Surrey CCC is once again asking cricket clubs and schools to nominate their most promising U9 players, in order to be considered for U9 cricket in 2018.
Players should be U9 in the 2018 season, in other words born after 31-Aug 2008.
The U9 Programme
The Surrey U9 programme is an early engagement level of the Player Pathway. We are fully aware that at such a young age, players will change immensely over the years they continue to participate in cricket. Therefore we wish to see players that have shown an early love for the game as well as have some current abilities to play the game. The programme gives young cricketers the chance to become involved in Surrey CCC’s youth programme, albeit players that enter the pathway at U9 should be aware that other players will enter the programme in future years as well as players moving out of the pathway as players develop at different rates.
You will find a player’s nomination section within the attached document, which
cricket coaches at clubs and schools can use for each player they wish to put forward. The deadline for submitting a nomination is Friday 30-March 2018.
The 2018 Assessment dates are within the Easter school holidays, as follows:
- Friday 6-Apr 2018
- Monday 9-Apr 2018
- Thursday 12-Apr 2018
All the assessment sessions will be held indoors @ Surrey Cricket Centre (George Abbot School), Burpham, Surrey.
Whilst these series of assessments are aimed at U9 cricketers in 2018, if clubs and schools have particularly promising U8 cricketers they can be nominated to attend these assessments too.
