Surrey CCC Youth Assessments - Summer 2019 (Boys)

By Dave Sheppard

Now is the time to nominate promising young players to Surrey CCC's Youth Assessments.

Coaches at cricket clubs and schools across Surrey (and relevant London boroughs) can now start nominating promising young players to the upcoming 2019 Surrey CCC Youth Assessments, in order to be considered for selection into the 2020 winter and summer Performance programmes.

The age groups for 2020 season (and player DOB's) are as follows:

U10s born between 1-Sep 2009 and 31-Aug 2010
U11s born between 1-Sep 2008 and 31-Aug 2009
U12s born between 1-Sep 2007 and 31-Aug 2008
U13s born between 1-Sep 2006 and 31-Aug 2007
U14s born between 1-Sep 2005 and 31-Aug 2006
U15s born between 1-Sep 2004 and 31-Aug 2005

If a cricket club or school wishes to put forward players to the 2018 Assessments please do so via this link:

Please note: players currently involved in Surrey CCC’s Performance Programmes need not be nominated in this way; we will involve them in an appropriate assessment and/or 2020 winter training programme, as appropriate. The nominations we would like to receive from clubs and schools are of new players that are felt to have the perceived potential to enter Surrey CCC’s Player Pathway. [New players include those who are not currently involved in the Performance Programmes; those who may have attended assessments in 2018 but were not selected; and those who have not attended any assessment to date].

As highlighted within the link we cannot accept nominations solely from a player’s parent; they must come from a coach at the player’s club or school. We would also urge coaches to only nominate those players they feel do have the perceived potential to enter Surrey CCC’s Player Pathway – if coaches would like to discuss this further please do contact and a Performance Manager will happily discuss this further with them.

We would prefer it if nominations were coordinated and submitted by one person at a club or school, to ensure a consistent approach to the right players being put forward – but appreciate this may not be possible at a number of organisations (in which case we would still welcome nominations from individual coaches).

Please note that these assessments are aimed at boys. Surrey CCC does have a Girls’ Player Pathway and a separate process for Girls’ Assessments (U10 to U17); please contact Katherine Robson for further information regarding 2019 Girls' Assessments -
