U-9 Assessments 2017

1 year ago By Dave Sheppard

DO YOU KNOW ANY PROMISING U-8 & U-9 CRICKETERS?

Surrey County Cricket Club is once again asking Cricket Clubs and Schools to nominate their most promising U-9 players, who they feel should be considered for U-9 cricket in 2017.

Players should be U-9 in the 2017 season, in other words born after 31-Aug 2007.

The Surrey U-9 programme is an early engagement level of the player pathway. We are fully aware that at such a young age, players will change immensely over the years they continue to participate in cricket. Therefore we wish to see players that have shown an early love for the game as well as have some current abilities to play the
game. The programme gives young cricketers the chance to become involved in Surrey CCC’s youth programme, albeit players that enter the pathway at U-9 should be aware that other players will enter the programme in future years as well as players moving out of the pathway as players develop at different rates.

You will find a player’s nomination details late in the attached document, which
cricket coaches at clubs and schools can use for each player they wish to put forward. The deadline for submitting a nomination is Friday 31-March 2017.

The 2017 Assessment dates are within the Easter school holidays, as
follows:

- Friday 7-Apr 2017 @ Aldro School, Godalming
- Monday 10-Apr 2017 @ Richard Challoner School, New Malden
- Thursday 13-Apr 2017 @ Cranmore School, West Horsley

The assessments will be indoors. Whilst these series of assessments are aimed at U-9 cricketers in 2017, if clubs and schools have particularly promising U-8 cricketers
they can be nominated to attend these assessments too.
